Men's Ministry
The goal of those involved in Men's Ministry in EFCA West is to assist churches to strengthen their men's disciple-making ministries.
We want to help you win with your men.
- Reach men for Christ (Matt 28:18-20)
- Build them up in their walk with Christ (2 Pet 3:18; 1 Jn 1:6)
- Equip them to fulfill the roles God has for them (Eph 4:11-12; 1 Pet 3:7; Eph 6:4)
Why we need intentional Ministry to Men
- The need in our culture and nation. Our culture is crumbling around us, and men are right in the middle of many of the major problems
- Reaching and building up the men benefits the church in multiple ways
- When you minister to the men, the whole family wins
- Men are fulfilled-when they are equipped to carry out their roles, they see God work in them and through them
- Younger Men, Future Husbands and Dads are prepared & equipped
- Future leaders in our church are developed. Where will your next leaders come from?
- Men Are Different-they will grow deeper and more significantly when gathered with other men, than they will in a mixed group of men and women (See Effective Men's Ministry, Phil Downer, Ed.(Zondervan) p. 20-23, and Why Men Hate Going to Church, David Murrow (Nelson)
A Few Assumptions
- Work with your pastor-make sure you support him and share the vision for ministry to your men
- Develop a team-you need other's gifts and perspective
- Start slow and build-it will take some time. You can't do it all at once
A Basic Strategy--Target Men at Different Levels of Readiness
Because men are at different levels of readiness for growth, offer a variety of opportunities to men at different levels. Consider this strategy:
- Gather Men through a variety of ENTRY POINTS
- Connect Men in short term, non threatening small groups
- Invest in Men who are ready to go deeper in study, accountability, by offering a higher commitment level study, groups
