EFCA West Staff
Steve Highfill is the Team Leader and air traffic controller for EFCA West. He was the founding pastor of the Cypress Evangelical Free Church (1978), and was appointed District Superintendent of the former Southwest District, EFCA, in 1990. He has led EFCA West since its inception in 2003. Along with his wife Deedee, they live in Valley Center (San Diego County), California. They have two grown children. .
Tom Garasha is Director of Pastoral Care and Coaching. Tom, his wife Lynn and their two children came to the Phoenix metro area in 1982 to plant Shiloh Community Church. Shiloh grew significantly and "daughtered" 4 churches over a period of 24 years. Tom and Lynn bring a vast wealth of experience and expertise to their new role. At the core of who they are is their desire to love and encourage pastors and wives. Their home in Prescott, Arizona is also a retreat house designed to minister to pastors and their families. Their grown children and 4 grandchildren are all walking closely with the Lord.
Dave Page is the Director of Church Planting. He has over 20 years of pastoral experience and has planted three churches in California. He has trained pastors and church planters on four continents. Dave enjoys coaching and training church planters, individually and in networks, and helping them reach their full potential. Dave has been married to Carrie for 21 years and they have 3 children and reside in Simi Valley, California. Dave’s hobbies include: basketball, motorcycling, going to the beach and reading. .
Bob Osborne is the Director of Church Leadership and Organizational Development. Bob’s passion for local churches to be led by transformational leadership teams having healthy relationships and sound organizational practices has been evident in over thirty years of lay leadership experiences within his own church family. He retired as a commander with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in October 2012 enabling him to join the EFCA-West team in August 2013. Bob holds a BA in Religion-Bible and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. Bob and his wife Charlene live in La Verne, California, and are the parents of two adult sons, Chris and Steve.
Brian Farone is the Director of Biblical Theology and Credentialing for EFCA West. After serving at Grace Bible Church in Arroyo Grande, CA for many years, Brian has joined the team to bring new impetus to training and encouraging pastoral staff in theology. .
Paul Schliep oversees Administration, Communication and Connections. Paul has served in pastoral ministry for more than 30 years, most recently a 16 year ministry at Santa Margarita Community Church (EFCA). He is the staff resource for movie and book reviews and serves as the staff utility player. Paul and Sharon have 3 adult children who have grown to be great friends to each other and their parents and all of whom are Jesus followers.
Rita Nystrom is the Leader of Administrative Services and is the Institutional Memory of EFCA West. Currently, she is involved with her husband, Ron, in leading the Parent/Child Dedication Class in her local EFC (Crossroads Church in Turlock). Rita loves reading and gardening and is also a cable news junkie. Rita and Ron have two wonderful children - Sarah, who is currently a CPA, and Eric, who will begin Graduate school in the Fall of 2012.
